So, as you know, we are in a recession...and we have all been tightning up on our budget for shopping. Well, who wants to save money and still look GREAT! or should I say Fabulous?!...I have some helpful tips to help you save money and still look great! So why are some of us afraid to splurge items at "cheap" places. I think it's a mental thing, self-consciously, you wouldn't get caught broke on a dead horse, walking out of a Goodwill store. I want to reassure you that walking out of that store would be the smartest thing you could do during this time of....survival: ). So, you ask." what can I find at a store like that? Everythings so worn out and old?" and I reply "negative." You have to have an idea of what it is you might be looking for. You have no idea what you can transform out of those clothes, trust me...be creative and use your style radar to style that 80's blazer up with a waist belt... try it out and see the difference. HAIR! HAIR!!! and more Hair!

Okay, so I  love hair...hair is one of the main elements on our body that I think can make a difference on how we look. You can look like a million bucks from 'neckondown,' but if your hair doesn't complement your attire, then what good is that lovely novelty dress you picked out to wear to that special occasion? Huh? I highly recommend changes. : )The greatest thing about our hair is that it GROWS! Did you know that hair is composed of strong structural protein called keratin. This is the same kind of protein that makes up the nails and the outer layer of skin. Each strand consists of three layers:

1. An innermost layer or medulla which is only present in large thick hairs.
2. The middle layer known as the cortex. The cortex provides strength and both the color and the texture of hair.
3. The outermost layer is known as the cuticle. The cuticle is thin and colorless and serves as a protector of the cortex.

Our hair has a growth phase, a transitional phase, and a resting phase. Isn't that good information? Trust me, I have selectively done my research. None of this was pulled out of this hat of mine. : ) But,the point is..That we as individuals shouldn't be afriad of changes. Lose the (non enticing) locks, and chose the (eccentric/cute) crops.There are plenty of hairstyles that can suit you. Even adding a little color can spice up a few things. Most of all remember...that it's only....Hair!! It will grow back, you just have to keep it nourished and away from too many chemicals and heat! Check out Amber Rose, the chick is hot, and she does damages with the du' she rocks, it really complements the makeup and attire she wears..Her style is flawless, and original, and she looks like a mantel piece beside her boo Kanye: )Doesn't she complement his "swag?". I suggest that we all explore what interest us most, take a chance, and go for it...we only live once!!

                                     

Fashion Has Gone mAd!!!!!

Yet another issue we face, fashion and it's standards. Why are there so many standards? Since when did we not have a right to choose what we want to look like? We as individuals portray an image far beyond our unique structure, and it's only devine for us to take advantage of that. Wear what you like. Be who you want to be. Keep it simple. We are the Trends of Tommorrow. Did you know that forecasters forcast trends just by going out in the streets and looking at what the consumers ( us) are wearing. From there, they determine which colors and styles that are going to be in season. So go on....style and be you, and remember to coordiante as much as you can. It's best to consider yourself as an visual element. Keep it at a formal balance with the colors, styles, and accessories you choose for your ensemble. Be creattive and have fun with your wardrobe!! Below is a prime example of informal balance with wardrobe!!!!My eyes were everywhere!!!Some may call it a Fashion Victim...I try to be nice and say...she's original...lol...toodles...ツ

Legendary of his own time!!!!

Legendary of his own time, an icon, and an inspiration to many artist of today, Michael Jackson is a prominent recording artist that will be remembered. Michael lived a fufulling and successful life. Michael jackson is a dominant figure of American music, fashion, and culture. Not only that, he is known for his innovative style and has created fashion trends that still exist today: sequened and leather jackets, gloves,  "high-water-pants,"  and jheri-curled hair..are  all of his unique appearance.  Many fans mourn The King of Pop with their own interpretations of his iconic style. Words cannot delineate the impact that this legandary artist has made on artist and fans. This is a time to celebrate the life of his death, because he still lives, his music still inspires, his fashions still 'trend,'and the death of Michael Jackson only means that a star for our new generation is being born. History repeats itself, and we should celebrate our lives as if it's our last. Michael Jackson will be remembered and will still live, even in the new generation...

The Next Big Thing!!

    The reminders of high school: drama, lunch money, a boring English teacher, cafeteria food that only someone with an appetite would endulge, anticipation for the bell to ring to finalize the day, but none of the least, choosing a career path!! Meet Michael Rose, a 15 year old fashion design native from Dallas, Tx. He has all the spills on the trendiest fashions from his most anticipated collections. Born July 19, 1993, Michael Rose found his love for fashion at the young age of 13. He began his mark when he started designing t-shirts, embellishing them with his craft of painting and drawing. Only a year later, he got himself a sewing machine, and began designing some of the most enthralling creations. Michael self-taught himself  to sew, laying out yardages of fabric and cutting out peice by peice with no use of any patterns. He also uses his own methods to strategize the formation of his garment. " I first get my Erykah Badu Cd, layout my fabric, have a pic or vision, the rest comes from that." he says." I sometimes drape designs on my sister, contour it, then sew it up when I'm finished." he continues. " I don't use any patterns, I just layout the fabric." Michael first kicked off his career by first modeling. His first fashion show was " Walk this way" he not only modeled for the show, but showcased some of his t-shirt designs. One of his noted friends, JJ, influenced him to contribute more of his talent in local fashion shows. Michael did just that, from there on, he bagan showcasing his designs in shows every month with Fashion Hp, a fashion event firm base located in Dallas, Texas." I have the drive for it, after graduating from High School in 2011, I would like to move to New York to pursue my career." He has it all, the ambition, the creative skills, the knowledge, and the personality. Some call it fresh talent, I call it The NEXT BEST THING! Music in the air?...

What a day? After a long day of going store to store and lavishing on trendy clothes for an upcoming photoshoot. I happened to run accross the most intersting people in the Dallas, Metro Area thus far. Meet, Troy and Chelsea. Two muscians that have a love for music and the city life. When encountering these two indviduals I had yet to be inspired by their ryhtmatic movements of the guitar, and the percussion. Both attend Richland Community College to study Music, and ironically never met each other. To me that was the most intriguing part of this entire encouter with these talented folks: ) Troy states" I have always been interested in music. I had my first band six years ago. I played the trumpet in High school." It was a sporadic moment when troy began to play one of his songs on his guitar. What a delight: )! Chelsea had been drawn to drums at church when gup as a child. " I would try to play the drums at church, and everyone would say, 'who is that girl on the stage? get her off' I was so rebellious," she proclaims.  Chelsea's grandmother played the percussian so that gave her more than enough muscal influence. " Where do ya'll see yourself -n- 5 years?" I asked. Troy replies," I see myself playing with my rockband, Opium Symphony." With all of his talent and ambiton Troy is sure to become succeful  with his talent. Check out his band's website at http://www.opiumsymphony.com. Chelsea finds inspiration in musical talent such as Imogene, and Heap." I wanna re-innovate music." she says. Chelsea sees herself as a freelance perfomer and evenutally becoming a teacher. Okay, so overal just from a lonely day in inner city, telented people such as Troy and Kelly can make it all a difference!!

Patrick Kelly: BUttons, BUttons, and more Buttons!

I have to say that I was more than inspired when I ran accross this interesting and talented designer from the 80's, known as Patrick Kelly born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on September 24, 1954.  He became familiar with fashion design at a young age, with no educational bacground in fashion. He somehow ventured his way into the fashion industry with the support of his friend Pat Cleveland. Through tons of research, I stumbled across one of the most innovative designers of history. Not only was he African American, but he was the first to be named the prestigious Chambre of Syndicale in Paris, France.  Kelly's trademark had been large colorful buttons, his creative nature had expanded with the use of bows, lips, and billard balls in all of his designs. With his colorful, bright and fun nautre, he had become popular and in demand. Fashion @ BET' s RIp ThE RuNwAy

Yet another year of fashion, at BET'S  rip the runway, featuring some of the latest/upcoming, and talented designers such as johny vincint, korto,byron lars, and douglas says. With a stunning catwalk featuring the hip designs, and striking models, no one can forget the great performances from some of the most talented music artist. Guest performances featured, kerri hilson, Bobby V, The- Dream, T.I, and our " stanky leg" creaters Gs Boyz. I absolutely love that BET celebrates black fashion, it's a beautiful thing, really.
